EV charge point installation
Every charge point Certi installs is designed to BS 7671 Section 722 and the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations. We assess the incoming supply before we quote, so you find out about a load or earthing constraint at survey stage rather than on installation day.
Scope of work
Supply and load assessment
Main fuse rating, maximum demand calculation and load-curtailment options where the supply is tight.
Earthing arrangement
PME risk assessment and open-PEN protection, or an installed earth electrode where required.
Charge point installation
7.4 kW single-phase or 22 kW three-phase, tethered or socketed, surface or pedestal mounted.
Workplace and multi-dwelling
Multi-bay layouts with dynamic load management, access control and usage reporting.

Photos of your consumer unit, meter and parking position give us most of what we need.

Hardware, cable route, protective devices and any DNO notification, itemised.

Typically half a day for a domestic single charger.

App pairing, charge test, installation certificate and Building Regulations notification.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need permission from my electricity network operator?+
Installations above 13.8 kW require prior approval; smaller domestic units are notified after the fact. We handle the paperwork either way.
Can you install if I have no off-street parking?+
We can install a compliant outdoor unit, but cabling across a public footway needs local authority consent, which some councils grant with a cable gully.
What is open-PEN protection and do I need it?+
On a PME supply, a broken neutral can make the vehicle chassis live. Either a device that disconnects on that fault or a separate earth electrode is required. Most modern chargers include the device.
Is the charger smart-regulation compliant?+
Every unit we fit meets the Smart Charge Point Regulations, including default off-peak charging and randomised delay.
