How to choose an accredited electrical training provider
Electrical training is a crowded market and the marketing rarely tells you what matters. These are the checks that separate a qualification employers recognise from a certificate of attendance.

Start with the awarding body, not the provider
City & Guilds, EAL and LCL Awards are the recognised awarding organisations for most electrical qualifications. A provider is approved to deliver their qualifications; that approval, and the specific qualification number, is what you should be checking.
If a course description names no awarding organisation and no qualification number, treat it as internal training, which may still be useful but is not the same thing.
Nine questions worth asking before you pay
Any credible provider answers all nine without hesitation.

- · Is the assessment written, practical, or both?
- · Who invigilates, and where?
- · What is the resit policy and cost?
- · How many CPD hours does it award?
- · What are the genuine prerequisites?
- · Is the price inclusive of exam and registration fees?
- · What tutor support exists between units?
- · How long do I retain access after completion?
Practical assessment cannot be faked online
Inspection and testing qualifications require hands-on assessment on a rig. Any provider offering a fully online 2391 is either mis-describing the qualification or delivering something else. Hybrid delivery, with theory online and assessment in person, is the honest model.
What employers actually check
In hiring conversations the recurring checks are the awarding body, whether the assessment was invigilated, and whether the CPD record is dated and coherent. A tidy exportable record does more for you than an extra certificate on the pile.
